Apocalypto Now

So my coworkers and I just got back from Apocalypto and all I can say is this: If there is ever a comeback of Mystery Science Theater 3000, this is the movie they should use.

Apocolypto Now

The film just features way too many moments where you find yourself laughing when you shouldn’t, cracking wise when you should be paying attention and otherwise just shaking your head.

The film spends a lot of time being gratuitously violent for the sake of being gratuitously violent, creating tangents and then not following them, and showing characters who are far too illogical to be believable (for example, being trapped in a deep hole, one should view a sudden downpour as a fortuitous solution, not an added challenge since most people are buoyant).

I’d wait for the film to come to video, if not HBO. In the meantime: Mike Nelson, if you are listening, you need to get started on a Riff Track right away.
