If so, then check out 3D Mailbox, a ridiculous concept where your email is represented as individual avatars that you interact with in a 3D environment, directing them into cabanas (folders), send them to the back alley (trash) or send them to be eaten by sharks (spam folder). Honestly, who thought this was a good idea?

One of these years I will finally get a talk accepted for OScon and actually be able to attend. I always hear good things about the conference and it seems like my company almost has its own track this year.

I was trying to build ffmpeg with h264 and faac tonight and had a fair amount of trouble, encountering issues with configure until I realized that several of the files in the faac distribution had DOS line endings.
I was seeing output like this:
.infig.status: error: cannot find input file:
I solved it with find, xargs, dos2unix and a pipe:
(from the extracted directory)
find -type f | xargs -n1 dos2unix
Hope it helps someone else with similar problems in the future.

Wow, this is really neat. Joe Celko, author of various SQL books including my beloved Trees and Hierarchies book, is going to provide virtual training courses on DB Design with MySQL.
There’s not too much detail at the link, but this would be an excellent course to attend by a real SQL master.
It’s also a nice turnaround to see MySQL go from being dismissed by Celko for lack of standards compliance (search MySQL, see page 98) to using the same PL/PSM stored procedures as his books and having him train others on design with MySQL.
Time to save my nickels, this will be a course that shouldn’t be missed!
